It all sounded great! Unlimited depth right in front of the center. No boat diving which means you can dive any time of the day. Year round near perfect diving conditions. The lowest training rates in the industry. It does sound great! However, at the moment we need to be strict with our master freediving program in Panglao.
Last august there was a fatal scuba diving accident just a couple of kilometers away from us, and this set the island government in high alert. Which of course is a good thing, but we get local officials visiting us at least 2 or 3 times a week for inspections and collecting the snorklingfee and taxes. Still no problem here – glad to see the government stepping up – there are too many cowboys out there! Additionally, we need to pay entrance fee to the resort for all our customers – which of course is no problem either, this is why the place looks so nice!
However, and this is the whole thing. We don’t want to pay entrance fee, snorkling fee, taxes for people who aren’t our registered customer. And even more important, we can’t, and won’t take responsibility for people not registered with us. Unfortunately, this results in not being able to service to walk-in master freedivers, or even rent out gear to walk-in customers. If you want to join the master program – great! Awesome! We’re happy to see you join the team! However, you need to be registered with us before coming to Panglao.
