Snorkels come in many different sizes, shapes and price levels. From very expensive and complex snorkels (which we don’t sell) up to very simple and easy to use and often very cheap snorkels. And this last category is exactly the snorkel we highly recommend for freedivers.
We believe that the best freediving snorkel is a simple one that’s easy to use and easy to clean – yes, you need to clean your snorkel. The freediving snorkel is one of those items that usually only gets a quick rinse after the dive session, but this is not enough. All snorkels are susceptive to mould, and if you don’t clean your snorkel, you’ll see the build-up of mould in the snorkel pipe within a few months. In our dive center in Panglao, we clean our student snorkels thoroughly after each use.
Although we sell quite a few snorkels like the Scubapro snorkel, we believe those are more suited for snorkelling than for freediving. The best freediving snorkel that we recommend is a soft silicone snorkel without a purge valve. The freediving snorkel needs to be soft so it won’t hurt the temple when holding the snorkel under the mask strap, and we don’t recommend a purge valve since it obstructs the airflow.
The Go Deep freediving snorkels are made from a high-grade silicone material that’s flexible, dirt-resistant, and has a comfortable mouthpiece. The freediving snorkels are lightweight, have a big diameter pipe for the least breathing resistance possible, and bend easily to the face curvature of every freediver.
These freediving snorkels are a must-have for every serious freediver.
If you regularly care for your snorkel, buying a simple cleaning solution is easiest. Plenty of stores sell basic cleaning solutions that can be mixed with water to make a straightforward yet powerful cleaning solution. Simple detergent or dishwashing soap is more than sufficient to clean your snorkel.
Add this solution to a tub or small bath with warm water and let your snorkel soak. After soaking for 10 minutes, clean the outside with a sponge, scrub the inside with this brush, and wash off any dirt that may have gotten stuck inside.
If you clean your freediving snorkel regularly, it will keep the snorkel looking as new.
The Steel Comp freediving mask is the ‘ultimate freediving mask.’ We have been using the mask in our dive center in Panglao as our preferred rental mask since 2015 for all our students. The dual-lens Scubapro Steel Comp fits exceptionally well on many different faces and nose sizes, and we couldn’t be happier with it.
We also like the Scubapro Apnea snorkel, and now you can buy the Steel Comp mask and Apnea snorkel as a set and get a $12 immediate discount.
The Trudive neoprene snorkel pipe is an easy solution for an annoying problem—we all lose a snorkel in the ocean at one point. This universal snorkel pipe solves this problem since it keeps the snorkel afloat on the surface.
The Trudive snorkel pipe is available in 8 beautiful colors.
Look no further if you want an easy way to save your freediving snorkel from sinking. The simple solution is a neoprene snorkel flotation tube made out of nylon wetsuit material that will keep your snorkel afloat if it happens to fall in the water.
Stylish in one-size-fits-all and three different colors.
The new Molchanovs CORE Freediving Snorkel is a simple solution you need for comfort and reliability.
The freediving snorkel is made from soft, non-toxic silicone, lightweight, and designed specifically for your favorite underwater sport. The snorkel weights only 125g (0.28lb) and is available in black and white.

Made from soft, flexible, non-toxic silicone, Scubpro’s new Apnea Snorkel easily attaches to your mask strap. When not needed, the snorkel can be folded and stowed away in the freediving buoy. When it’s time to do some more surface breathing or swimming, it pops right back into shape.
The Apnea’s upper barrel can be removed if you prefer to use a shorter pipe. This is a simple, very easy-to-use, and ideal freediving snorkel.
The splashguard barrel-top design of the Scubapro Escape Snorkel helps prevent water from entering the large-bore snorkel pipe while still allowing abundant airflow.
This easy-to-use snorkel has a very efficient purge valve on the bottom, a scuba regulator-style mouthpiece, and a convenient clip for quick removal from your mask strap.
Level 1, 2 and 3 SSI then 3 months of master training and I've loved it. The academy is a great place to learn and train. Poolside is very chill and relaxed yet focused and knowledgeable with all the trainers and masters. You can very much be focused on your own goals and train at your own pace! Then the line diving at Napaling reef is fantastic.
The staff are super helpful and friendly as well. I've loved my time here and hope I can come again!

The fun dive trip was amazing. Had a good time with the guide. Absolutely coming again if there'a a chance to go to Bohol another time.

Unbeatable location. Training atmosphere is also very good. Friendly, supportive and approachable. If you’re thinking about getting one of the freediving certificates like me, this is one of the best places to do it.
If you’re interested in no fins at all, I would start with molchanovs. I got my Aida 3 cert before coming here for wave a 3 course and I would’ve been better off had I done a molchanovs wave 2 instead of Aida 3. Because molchanovs introduces no fins early on and you’ll save time during later levels. There are other differences too but no fins is the main one for me.
My instructor is Scott. I really appreciate his views on long term diving journey and focus on solving issues instead of the number (in his words, if you solve the problems, the numbers will come naturally). I’m thankful that he calmed my anxiety of meeting the level requirements.
Last but not least, big thanks to Emily who orchestrated our trainings and gave many useful info about diving, places to eat, recommended activities during rest (no diving) day. 多谢!后会有期🫶

I had a really great time doing my AIDA2 and AIDA 3 course here. The instructor was super clear and easy to learn from. Communication was great from start to finish.
The location is perfect, right by Napaling, so we could just walk out and dive straight in—no long boat rides or complicated logistics. They also had a lot of gear available, and I ended up buying most of my equipment directly from them, which was really convenient.
I was solo traveling, and the whole team made me feel really welcome. Emily, the owner, was especially helpful—she made sure everything ran smoothly and was always around to help out or answer questions. Everyone at the center was friendly and supportive, which made a big difference. Not to mention Jay, the super cute dog in the shop, he literally look like a chunky potato. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking to learn freediving in a beautiful location with great people.

We did the one day introduction to free diving and had a brilliant day. Our instructor Jamari was patient and clear - the classroom sessions were really interesting and the pool sessions built our confidence. In the afternoon open water session we practiced what we had learned and were really pleased with what we managed to do. Would love to come back for longer another time, and do Level 1. Thoroughly excellent experience and will be enjoying snorkelling even more now.

I & my boyfriend took 2 days coaching course with “Olga” the great instructor! She has super fun personality and she gave us “to the point” feedbacks to improve our Constant weight no fins dive. We felt improved a lot in these 2 days thanks to her. She is a great instructor. Also we stayed at “Backhouse” and our stay was so comfortable. The place has everything you need. There is also a 25 meters pool where you can train dynamic or static apnea. We had chance to train in the pool by our own. Additionally, all the people working at Freedive Academy Panglao are super kind and helpful. We really felt at home thanks to them. I hope everyone can have chance to train and accommodate here. We would love to come back again and train with the Academy!

Probably the highlight of our trip. Swimmers and non-swimmers will have a blast. We are a family of four and we're provided with 2guides and 2 go pros. My only complaint is there are limited choices of fins and even very limited goggles. My daughter's goggles keep fogging up and me& hubby's keep getting filled with water no matter how tight they are.

I had an amazing and memorable experience. I and my friends booked for snorkeling. As soon as we arrived at the academy we were assisted by the friendly staff and drive to the diving/snorkeling spot. There’s a huge school of sardines, other fishes, and beautiful coral reefs. The competent staff ensured our safety as we swim and they are also taking photos and videos. I highly recommend them and would like to try diving on our next visit.
