With a group of friends and investors, we have been able to purchase land in Panglao about 3km’s from where are now based, and for almost a year we have been building what will be the biggest freediving center in the world!
A Freediving Center, Designed by Freedivers, for Freedivers!
And it’s going to be spectacular!
We started moving our materials and equipment already, but the last courses and diving at our current locations will happen on February 27th – yes it will be quite emotional! 😥
But then it’s ROCK & ROLL in our brand new academy! 🤘 😊 And the place is incredible! We are super proud! We are based in Tabalong Panglao, still on the Northside of the island where it is nice and quiet – about 15 minutes via scooter away from the tourist area Alona, where the diving is spectacular!
The first phase of the build is pretty much finished now. We are going to start with four classrooms of which one is specifically set up for the monthly SSI Freediving Instructor Courses and high profile workshops – yes we are expecting some incredible guests this year, stay tuned! 😊 We have a four-lane 25-meter pool of which three lanes are more shallow 15 meter lanes perfect for Level 1 freediving courses and static training. Furthermore, the academy has a small Apnea gym, a restaurant, yoga and stretching area, a big reception area and shop – we still have the retail shop in Alona too. With the help of our partners, we build ten luxury apartments directly next to the academy too.
Now that we’re finished with all of the above, we’re slowly going to start with the 2nd and 3rd phase. This will mean more room to chill out with larger outside area and juice bar, classrooms (on the 2nd and 3rd floor), massage rooms, shops, more apartments – including budget and dormitory rooms, and behind the academy, we are going to build our staff accommodation too – but that’s off-limits for you 😜
